Blowing hard at Taiaroa Head meant the albatross had no difficulty lifting off and flying today.
At times there were five or six in the air at once.
They seemed to be effortlessly playing with the wind, tipping sideways to let air spill out from under adn using their feet as rudders.
And they flew close to the observatory windows, round and round and back again.
Acrobatic and formation flying -- not a problem.
It made landing a little difficult and you could tell the more experienced birds from the juveniles who often had to have several attempts, or give up for some more flying!
Lots of albatri in the albatrocity. Too many to get in one shot. Brilliant.
