Rainbow's End

We don't get a lot of rainbows here for some reason, but when we do they are quite spectacular. This was taken one evening and you can just make out a double end.

This was the following evening, appearing in almost exactly the same location.

Coincidentally almost exactly a year ago we saw another rainbow, although the double was at the other end so to speak.

Thud Splat

The native New Zealand Pigeon is a big bird. This is the imprint that one left behind after crashing into our window!

The leading outstretched wing can be clearly seen, a few feathers were lost on impact.

And here the solid looking smear is where the beak met glass whilst the bird's head was knocked back. Tail feather imprints can also be seen. Although the bird made a huge thump which shook the window, it didn't seem to take any damage and flopped into a nearby tree, sat for a couple of minutes to regain composure, then flew off properly leaving a ghostly image of its encounter.
